Project Highlight: A Barrel Sauna Sanctuary in the Heart of Fayetteville
A Retreat in the Middle of Town
Our client on this project had a unique location with a charming bamboo patch nestled on a 2 acre property in the center of Fayetteville. The location and position of the sauna was chosen to envelope the client in nature and serenity steps from their home.
Barrel Sauna - The Natural Choice
The choice of a barrel sauna in the this situation made for a lightweight, affordable and quick install. Electrical had to be run quite far, so the low cost of the barrel helped to offset the total cost.
Floating Foundation
The foundation of this sauna consists of concrete cast piers that allow the sauna to “float” lightly on the hillside. Mulch around the base, and a natural stone step up complete the natural look. A small walkout deck was added as a place to land after a session.
Investment
A sauna project like the one depicted above will usually land between $15,000-$30,000 depending on features and site conditions. Key drivers of cost here were the long and complicated electrical run and concrete footings. Site access was luckily easy. Here is a rough cost breakdown:
Sauna, installed with 9kw Huum heater: $13500
Electrical to sauna site: $3500
Foundation piers: $2500
Upgrades (Lighting, roof, bench waxing, exterior seal): $1800
