What to Expect from a Sauna Site Visit: A Clear Path to Feasibility

At Chillfire Saunas, we believe every great sauna experience starts with clarity. That’s why our sauna site visits are designed as a focused viability check and budget alignment. This article gives an overview of the process.

If you’re dreaming of bringing the warmth and wellness of a sauna to your home, cabin, or commercial space, the site visit is the first step in making that dream practical and possible.

What Our Site Visit Includes

1. Initial Assessment of the Space

  • For Outdoor Saunas:
We evaluate access, terrain, drainage, and ideal placement in relation to your home, utilities, and views. We look for a location that supports good performance and long-term durability while considering how it fits into your overall landscape.

  • For Indoor Saunas:
We inspect the proposed area to determine if it can accommodate proper electrical service, waterproofing, ventilation, and insulation. We'll assess ceiling height, room dimensions, and proximity to power and water, all of which affect feasibility and cost.

2. Discussion of Project Goals
We’ll talk through your vision—what kind of sauna you want, your usage goals, and whether you’re leaning toward electric, wood-fired, traditional, or modern.

3. Basic Budget Range
Based on our experience and your goals, we provide a realistic budget range to achieve your outcome. This includes heater selection, support systems (electrical, waterproofing, insulation, venting), and structural considerations.

4. Heater and Build Type Recommendation
For custom builds, we’ll recommend a heater type and provide estimated allowances for required support systems. This helps define project scope without diving into detailed design.

What a Site Visit Is Not

Our site visit is a high-level feasibility review. It is not a design consultation. We do not:

  • Provide layout drawings or bench designs

  • Define construction methods or material specs

  • Offer architectural or permitting advice

  • Make decisions about aesthetic finishes or interior configuration

If you're looking for layout planning, drawings, or technical design work, we offer separate design consultation packages tailored to those needs.

Why This Matters

A sauna is an investment in your well-being and your space. Before diving into design or build, this site visit gives you the confidence that your project is doable, and provides a clear sense of what it will take.

It’s your first checkpoint—a grounded, professional review that ensures your dream sauna rests on a solid foundation.
